Ragusa is made up of two towns, separated by a deep valley.  Ragusa Ibla is the ‘new’ town built after the earthquake of 1693, while the original town of Ragusa has gradually been rebuilt over the succeeding centuries.

The comune of Ragusa includes the seaside resort of Marina di Ragusa, one of the best beaches in Sicily, and which also has the new marina for yachts. 

The castle of Donnafugata, which for many is linked to Lampedusas ‘The Leopard’, is a stately home open for visits.
